Berytinus minor
Family: Berytidae

Berytinus species are characterised by the short 2nd antennal segment (less than the length of the club on the 1st segment) and by the short hind femora, which do not reach the apex of the corium.

In B. minor the club of the 1st antennal segment is black. The femora are not black-tipped and the head is shorter than the pronotum.

The commonest and most widespread UK stiltbug
, this species occurs in a variety of grassland habitats, feeding on rest-harrow, clover and lesser yellow trefoil. Adults overwinter, mating early in the spring; the new generation is complete from July onwards.
