Ischnocoris angustulus
Family: Lygaeidae

This small bug is rather similar to Macrodema micropterum, which also occurs commonly on heathland. It is best separated by the largely pale tibiae, relatively larger eyes and partly pale antennae.

Abundant on heathland in southern England and recorded as far north as Scotland, this species feeds on heather and probably other plants. Adults overwinter and the new generation is complete from late July onwards.
