Orthops kalmii Family: Miridae This genus contains three small bugs (<5 mm) which are often found on umbellifers (Apiaceae). They generally have dark antennae. Although external characters are useful, some specimens cannot be reliably identified without dissection. O. kalmii is never green or green-tinged like O. campestris and is more elongate and often more extensively dark-marked. Although very similar to O. basalis, the 3rd antennal segment is slightly shorter. A fairly common bug throughout the UK on a range of umbellifers. Adult: All year Length ~4.5 mm |
