Neophilaenus exclamationis
Family: Aphrophoridae

Neophilaenus can be separated from Philaenus by the straight costal margin in the basal two-thirds of the forewing; there are several UK species.

N. exclamationis is easily recognised by the costal markings, which consist of a pale line along the anterior two-thirds, and a pale spot towards the apex. The rest of the dorsal surface is primarily a dull chestnut-brown, often with a dark streak towards the apex of the inner wing margins.

Locally common on grasses, often on calcareous or gritstone hillsides, across Britain.
