Allygus
modestus Family: Cicadellidae This genus contains two fairly large and elongate species in which the forewings have numerous white cross veins and are covered in dark dots. The similar but less common Allygidius commutatus shares these features. In A. modestus, there are short dark diagonal lines running inwards from near the ocelli, which are lacking in A. mixtus. The dark markings are also paler and less distinct. Fairly common in southern Britain, usually on deciduous trees, although the nymphs are often found on grasses. Compare: A. mixtus Adult: June to October Length 6.0-7.5 mm |
