Aphrodes
makarovi Family: Cicadellidae Aphrodes species generally have a sharply pointed vertex which always has a median keel. They can be very variable with distinct forms occuring in different habitats. Females in particular are often difficult to identify. A. makarovi was historically regarded as a form of A. bicinctus but is larger, has pale wing veins and is much more common. The host plants are a range of common species, including dandelions, thistles and nettles, and it occurs widely across the UK, but particularly in the south.
