Emelyanoviana mollicula
Family: Cicadellidae

Emelyanoviana comprises two very similar pale yellow species in which the vertex is narrower than the pronotum, and the eye in side view roughly as high as long. The genitalia provide a useful check and are important for confirming species.

E. mollicula is the more common of the two species, and is most easily separated from the scarce E. contraria by the form of the aedeagus, and the abdominal colouring: the dorsal surface of the abdomen is dark, whereas it is dark-banded in male E. contraria and pale in females.

A local but widespread species on calcareous soils; it is associated with a range of host plants, including Betony, Marjorum, Plantago and Primula.
