Family: Cicadellidae This unmistakable species has a distinctive enlarged and flattened vertex with a median keel, as well as small eyes which are set a long way back. However, beware Aphrodes species, in which the nymphs have similarly enlarged heads; this genus normally has dark, flattened hind tibiae. Widespread throughout the UK in dry grassy areas, but not common. Probably two generations per year, in early spring and summer. Adult: March to October Length 5.5-7 mm |
