Eupteryx notata
Family: Cicadellidae

An extremely distinctive leafhopper, which can only be confused with the larger E. vittata. The two species can only otherwise be separated by the absence of long spines on the sides of the anal tube in males of E. notata.  There tend to be differences in the patterning - for example, the posterior of the vertex is less darkly marked - but these are limited and the ranges of variation overlap.

Found amongst low vegetation on chalky soils throughout the UK, probably asociated with thyme,  self-heal and other composites.
