Hauptidia
maroccana Family: Cicadellidae A small typhlocybine that closely resembles Arboridia. Hauptidia can be separated with certainty from the face, which lacks distinct markings, although the sides of the frontoclypeus tend to be brownish. The two dark spots are the only clear markings on the vertex, without a brown pattern surrounding them. The dark streaks in the forewing cells are variable, but often less well developed than in Arboridia, and lack the distinct narrowing of the second streak near the middle. Historically distributed in western England and south Wales; appears to be spreading outwards from this area. The native foodplants are foxglove and red campion, but often found on cultivated garden and indoor plants. Adult: August to March Length 3-3.5 mm |
