Idiocerus albicans
Family: Cicadellidae

Leafhoppers in the Idiocerinae are large and often highly patterned, with a very broad, short vertex. The group is large and often very difficult to identify. Almost all are associated with poplars or willows.

This species is distinctively pale and
milky white in colour. Males sometimes show dark streaks at the front of the pronotum and have dark thyridia on the face; the females lack both these markings and are uniformly greyish.

Locally distributed on grey and white poplars in England as far north as Yorkshire; also reported from north Wales and Ireland.
