Idiocerus
laminatus Family: Cicadellidae Leafhoppers in the Idiocerinae are large and often highly patterned, with a very broad, short vertex. The group is large and often very difficult to identify. Almost all are associated with poplars or willows. I. laminatus is mostly metallic brown or yellowish with mainly dark forewings; there is a broad pale band behind the forewing apex, which is dusky. The face is mostly unmarked, although the thyridia are dark. The markings on the scutellum are pronounced and reasonably distinctive, but sometimes obscured. The posterior half of pronotum is distinctly darker. Males have antennal palettes. On poplars, especially aspen and grey poplar. Probably widespread in Britain, but the distribution is poorly known. Adult: June to October Length 6-7 mm |
