Kybos
betulicola Family: Cicadellidae A distinctively coloured genus with several very similar species in which both the inner margin and corial-claval suture are darkened. K. betulicola is one of the more difficult to identify, with the markings very similar to other species. Certain identification depends on dissection and microscopic examination of males, especially the sternal apodemes. Females are inseparable from K. smaragdula, although the host plant provides some indication. Recorded widely across the UK, on Betula species (birch). Adult: July to September Length 4-4.5 mm |
