Limotettix striola
Family: Cicadellidae

A greenish-yellow species which has a dark black band running across the vertex between the eyes. In front of this there is a pale stripe which joins the ocelli at least.
In males the anterior of the pronotum often has a few dark marks, as does the base of the scutellum.

In the much rarer L. atricapillus the pale stripe on the vertex is much shorter and less distinct (does not join the ocelli); the vertex is also more rounded.

Locally common in marshy habitats (both freshwater and saltmarshes) and associated with sedges such as spike-rush.

Adult: June to September
Length 3.5-5.0 mm
