decempunctata Family: Cicadellidae A variably coloured and sometimes pinkish leafhopper, with three dark spots on each side of the pronotum, although two of these may be fused (below left). The vertex has two large dark spots and there are two dark triangles on the scutellum, in addition to a short transverse line, which is sometimes absent. The dark markings on the forewings are also variable, but in strongly marked specimens tend to fuse into a dark transverse band near the centre. It is found mostly on birch in the summer, hibernating on conifers, ivy and gorse. Adult: All year Length 3.5 mm |
