Macrosteles sexnotatus
Family: Cicadellidae Macrosteles is an extremely difficult and diverse genus, of which many species are impossible to identify without dissection. Most are found in grasslands, and are yellow with darker markings on the vertex and sometimes diffuse darker markings on the wings. M. sexnotatus must be confirmed by dissection of males to separate it from other species. Vertex markings may vary in extent, and general colouring appears to be unreliable. Wings of females and some males are less brown. This species is common on grasslands across the UK, and is often associated with clover. Adult: May to October Length 3-4 mm |
