Placotettix taeniatifrons
Family: Cicadellidae

A very distinctive species, and the only representative of the genus in the UK. It is mostly orange-brown dorsally, with the apical cells of the forewings suffused greyish and with dark brown veins. The face has a strong dark line between the eyes, dark patches around the base of each antenna, and less regular dark marks on the frontoclypeus.

A relatively scarce species whose distribution is not yet clear. Has been recorded in London (including Buckingham Palace gardens) and Kent. The host plant is Rhododendron, but perhaps also associated with oaks.
