Sardius argus Family: Cicadellidae Although superficially similar to some other deltocephaline species, S. argus has one diagnostic feature not shared by any others. This concerns the two anal veins, which are always joined in the middle. The arrangement of markings on the vertex is also characteristic, with six dark marks at the anterior edge. There are large hyaline patches on the forewings which form several transverse bands. A local species found widely in southern Britain, mainly on heathland. Adult: July to October Length 2.5-3.5 mm |
