Turrutus
socialis Family: Cicadellidae One of many similar deltocephaline genera, but with a single species in the UK. There are few noticeably dark markings on the forebody or forewings, except for a pair of streaks near the apex of the vertex. The forewings in brachypters (macropters are rare) are rather angular and slightly asymmetrical, and have two clear trianglular regions, either side of a rectangular cell near the apex of the outer margin. It occurs on grasses, usually assoicated with calcareous soils, in England and Scotland, and probably also Wales. Recent records are quite sparse, but it may be more widespread than this suggests. Adult: June to October Length 2.5-4 mm |
