Nothodelphax
distincta Family: Delphacidae N. distincta (previously Tyrphodelphax distinctus) shares many features with certain other UK delphacid species, but identifications can be reliably checked from genitalia charateristics. The pronotum and scutellum are yellow-brown with prominent white keels in the female (males with outer keels often white). Abdomen of males mainly black with brown midline. Like Javesella species, the frons is entirely black between the keels. Macropters are very rare or entirely absent. A scarce species found in sphagnum bogs, and probably associated with cotton-grass (Eriophorum). Adult: May to July Length 2.0-2.8 mm |
