Acalypta brunnea Family: Tingidae Acalytpa species are very small lacebugs associated with moss. They are usually brachypterous, appearing rather oval in shape. The 4th antennal segment is wider than the 3rd and the head bears two frontal processes (small projections arising between the antennae). A. brunnea is recognised by the single keel on the pronotum. Widespread but local throughout Britain, in moss growing on the base of tree-trunks or on rotten stumps. This species overwinters as an adult. Adult: All year Length 2.0-2.5 mm |
