Emblethis denticollis
Family: Lygaeidae

Emblethis are straw-coloured ground bugs covered in dark punctures. They have strongly keeled margins to the pronotum and are rather oval in shape.

E. denticollis is distinguished from the very similar E. griseus by the shorter 1st segment of the hind tarsus, which is 1.5x the combined length of the 2nd and 3rd segment. E. denticollis is also slightly more elongate in shape.

A recent arrival in Britain and first recorded in 1991, it has since been found widely in southern England, but is scarce and local. Associated with common storksbill Erodium cicutarium in sparsely-vegetated habitas.
