Leafhopper Family: Cicadellidae A recent immigrant to the UK, which has been recorded mainly from the London area. It has rather a sharply rounded vertex and the body and forewings are covered by dark punctations. The patterning at the wing apices is distinctive, but be sure to rule out Synophropsis lauri. Found on laurels (including bay and privet), and also on a range of Rosaceae, including introduced ornamental shrubs such as Photinia. It has been found in addition on a wide range of deciduous trees on the continent. Adult: June to October; may overwinter Length 6.5-8.0 mm |
