Synophropsis lauri
Family: Cicadellidae

This species is a recent arrival in Britain and is native to south-eastern Europe. It was first recorded from the London area in 2007 and has since been found more widely in the southeast. It has also been discovered on Jersey.

Although superficially similar to Fieberiella florii, the vertex is sharply pointed and the body and forewings are plain, with dark markings at the apices of the anal veins and the corio-claval suture, and further dark markings in the apcial cells. The antennae are very long.

Found on bay Laurus nobilis and also frequently on Ivy Hedera helix; there seem to be two generations and females may overwinter.

Adult: June to October; may overwinter
Length 6.0-6.5 mm
